Index files and directories not searched by Spotlight

By default, Apple's new "Spotlight" feature in Mac O.S. X v.10.4 has been a saving grace for local searches. One limitation that ails this software is the fact that it will not index hidden directories; some th at Apple deem off limits.

SpotlightIndexer will allow the user to easily index folders that may not currently be searched by Spotlight.

This software does not modify the way that Spotlight runs, or alter it in any way. The program simply uses the same process that Spotlight does to import files and folder contents into its index.

SpotlightIndexer acts as a front-end to the command line utility mdimport.

Features

  • Index files and directories not searched by Spotlight
  • Index for specific metadata types
  • Localization in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish
  • All mdimport options included
    • Debugging
    • Force import
    • Specify wait interval between imports
    • And more...

“Quiet Read” is my new freeware application that lets you save any link for later.

Sometimes, when I am browsing the web, I want to store a link for later. There are note taking applications and everything-buckets to do that, but I wanted something light and simple. Simple as dragging a link onto a menu bar item to store it.

Here is what you’ll get once you launch Quiet Read:

To review your link, click the menu bar icon:

MagicPrefs is a free menubar application for OSX which aims to improve the functionality and configuration options of the Apple Magic Mouse.

It features the ability to bind a variable number of finger clicks and taps to functions like Middle Click , Hold Down Both Mouse Buttons , Spaces , Expose, Dashboard etc.

Tap Sensitivity implements a advanced algorithm that impacts a number of factors used to determine taps , all controllable by a single slider.

Tracking Speed adds the ability to increase the maximum available speed by a extra 25%.

And to top it all off it features a real-time display of the fingers touching the surface of the mouse that you can enable to test and monitor the way the mouse sees your input.

Set different gesture shortcuts for every app

Magic Mouse  gestures (version 0.345):

  1. zoom in and zoom out (pinching)
    Special notes:
if this one triggers accidentally you may want to disable horizontal zooming in the preferences. Also you may want to activate it only for specific apps like preview.
  2. tip tap (left / right)
Special notes: look at this video to learn how this works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRhBa3-O3fM
In order to get it triggered you have to:
    1) lift your fingers
    2) tap with one finger and keep this finger down and don’t move it
    3) tap left or right of this finger with an other finger
    4) should trigger
  3. two finger swipe up/down/left/right
Special notes: you can set the sensitivity of the two finger swipe up and down in the preferences. After setting you have to restart BTT in order to take effect.
  4. three finger swipe up/down/left/right
  5. single finger tap (can be used for tap2click)
  6. single finger tap left
  7. single finger tap right (left and right half of the mouse)
  8. two finger tap
  9. two finger click (you have to lift your fingers before clicking, but this one doesn’t work very well yet)
  10. three finger tap
  11. three finger CLICK (this one is able to simulate a real middleclick, if you select it in the actions dropdown. This maybe useful for CAD etc.)

Macbook gestures:

  1. tip tap (left / right)
Special notes: look at this video to learn how this works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRhBa3-O3fM
  2. three finger swipe (left/right/up/down)
Special notes: in order to use the custom 3 finger swipes, they must be activated in the system preferences. This is in contrast to the 4 finger swipes, those have to be deactivated if you want to use them in BTT.
  3. rotate (left/right)
  4. zoom (in/out)
  5. three finger tap (Available on Macbook )
  6. three finger click
  7. four finger swipe (up/down/left/right)

Effortless Screen Capture - SnapNDrag lets you take a screenshot by just clicking a button and dragging the resulting screenshot off.

For example, to email a screenshot, you would drag the screenshot from SnapNDrag to the Mail application. It is that simple. No hard-to-remember key combinations, no file conversion to deal with, no file dialog boxes to navigate, no temporary files to erase later on.

Multiple Formats Supports PNG and TIFF for times when image quality cannot be compromised. Or use JPEG with adjustable quality for smaller file sizes.
